Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve

Since 1979 Sabi Sabi has hosted visitors from all over the world, drawn to this unique area by the promise of the safari experience of a lifetime. Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, situated in the world-renowned 65000 hectare Sabi Sand Wildtuin in the South-Western section of the Kruger National Park, is a wildlife oasis, where you can observe at close quarters the age-old natural relationship between predator and prey.

Big game abounds and roams freely throughout this pristine part of the ancient African continent. The diverse habitat is home to spectacular wildlife including the Big 5 – lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant – as well as cheetah, wild dog and some 200 other animal species indigenous to the area.

There is nothing quite as stirring as the sight of a lion, elephant or rhino roaming free in the bush; as haunting as the sound of a hyaena laughing in the dead of night; as electrifying as the tension one feels when following spoor along a dry riverbed. This is what makes the Sabi Sabi experience so memorable. Day and night in open Land Rovers, led by highly trained Game Rangers and qualified Trackers, follow the animals on and off-road, deep into the heart of the wild African Bushveld. Walking safaris allow guests to feel the pulse of untamed Africa through the soles of their feet.

The Bushcamp Company

The Bushcamp Company was formed in 1999 when four camps – the well-established Kuyenda and Chamilandu, and the younger Chindeni and Bilimungwe – came together under one parent company. Our fifth bushcamp, Kapamba, was built on the banks of the Kapamba River in 2005, and in 2008 a sixth camp, Zungulila, was built upstream on the same river. Founded by Andy Hogg and Andrea Bizzaro, the company is still run from its headquarters at Mfuwe Lodge by Andy – a Zambian who used to work at Save the Rhino Trust’s Chinzombo Lodge in Luangwa.

The Bushcamp Company is fortunate enough to be the only safari operator in this southern section of the park. As a result, we pride ourselves on the intimate nature of our small, exclusive bushcamps, each one situated in breathtaking and remote locations, far from other camps and tourists.

Kwando Wildlife Experience

‘Intimate’ and ‘personal’ are core Kwando Safaris values. The vast wilderness areas in which our camps are located are known for their remoteness and high quality wilderness experience. With the intoxicating sunsets, tranquillity and endless horizons, most people are reluctant to leave!

In order for a camp to be included in the Kwando Safaris circuit, it must have the following characteristics:

  • Intimate and personal – no more than 18 guests per camp
  • Allow the sounds of nature to dominate
  • Be managed by experienced and talented citizens of Botswana with motivated and caring staff
  • Embody the unique Kwando ‘Guide and Tracker experience’
  • Be staffed with guides with the experience and personalities to ensure that no activity is dull!
  • Limit each game drive vehicle to a maximum of six guests
  • Have structures that are semi permanent ensuring minimal impact on the environment

Gorongosa Tours

“Famously called ‘The place where Noah left his ark’, Gorongosa National Park once teemed with African buffalo, elephants, hippos, lions, wildebeests, and all sorts of wild things. But Mozambique’s vicious civil war wiped out most of the animals. What remained was the beauty: a million acres at the southern end of the Great Rift Valley filled with vast savannas, grasslands, rainforests, caves, gorges, rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. Now the beasts are back too. Large animals number nearly 80,000, thanks to the Gorongosa Project. The public-private partnership leads conservation efforts inside the park and invests in jobs, education, and healthcare for the people who live around it.”
